Ferrellgas chairman pitches autogas to his own landscaper

Jim Ferrell, the chairman of Ferrellgas Partners LP, and his wife, Zibbie, convinced their landscape provider, Jeffrey’s, to convert a WH48A John Deere walk-behind mower to run on propane. The Ferrells, who live in Kansas City, Kan., informed Jeffrey’s Jeff Walkwitz about the number of lawn and landscape professionals that are switching to propane. Walkwitz took action once he realized propane’s possibilities.

“When I dug in and really did my homework, I discovered that propane is less expensive than the gasoline I was using, that the engine life for propane mowers is longer because it burns cleaner, and that propane is safe to store and easy to use,” Walkwitz says. “My only wish is that I had this conversation with them sooner.”
