LifeGuard Technologies earns patent for hose seal

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued a patent related to the development of the Accordion Seal, announced safety hose manufacturer LifeGuard Technologies. The Accordion Seal is an advancement in hose technology, creating a “seal-less” seal for LifeGuard Tri-Bolt Breakaway design, the company says. Breakaway devices have required a seal to connect the two halves of the valve or device. LifeGuard Tri-Bolt Breakaway Hose with the patented Accordion Seal eliminates leaks through the patented Shear-Tube that is welded to both sides of the LifeGuard fitting and only separates during catastrophic hose failure – not before, according to the company.
