The Missouri Propane Gas Association (MPGA) has named Luke Fitzpatrick as its CEO, beginning July 1.

“We’ve got great industry leadership on our board of directors, and I pledge my very best to keep up the momentum we’ve built over the years,” Fitzpatrick says.

Fitzpatrick was most recently MPGA’s first COO, which he was named in January 2023. His career in the propane industry began with MFA Oil, where he progressed through several roles during 15 years with the company.

“Luke brings MPGA the leadership and strategic vision we’re counting on to continue our mission,” says Mark Porth, president of the MPGA board of directors. “We’re fortunate to have his extensive experience in the propane industry, his active and engaged tenure as a board member, and his recent contributions as our chief operations officer.”

Fitzpatrick takes over for LP Gas Hall of Famer Steve Ahrens, the retiring CEO, who will continue to serve as the association’s chief strategy officer.

MPGA is a nonprofit trade association organized to promote the safe and efficient use of propane. According to the U.S. Census, about 9 percent of Missouri’s households use propane for heating, hot water and cooking. Propane is also widely used in agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and transportation in Missouri.
