Pembina chooses Portland for new West Coast propane export terminal

September 5, 2014 By

Pembina Pipeline Corp. has selected a site for its planned West Coast propane export terminal project, agreeing with the Port of Portland, Ore., and setting forth the terminal site, which includes an existing marine berth.

The terminal agreement enables Pembina to begin the process of engaging and consulting with project neighbors and other stakeholders within the city; municipal, state and federal governments; and all applicable environmental and regulatory authorities, according to a company press release.

The company, based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, said it will spend $500 million to initially develop a 37,000-barrel-per-day propane export facility, with an anticipated in-service date of early 2018. Much of the propane destined for large international export markets is expected to come from the growing supply in western Canada.
