Canada launches new national propane association

February 9, 2011 By

Canada has formed a new national association to facilitate the growth and performance of the propane industry.

The Canadian Propane Association, based in Ottawa, has become the new voice of the propane industry in the country. Membership of the Propane Gas Association of Canada (PGAC) and the Ontario Propane Association (OPA) reportedly decided last year to create a new unified voice for the industry.

In addition to its mission of growing the propane industry in the country, the Canadian Propane Association states, “Our vision is to be the voice of and destination for the industry while championing a safe propane industry. The Canadian Propane Association is a member-driven organization that advocates on issues and policy matters relevant to members.”

Ottawa native Jim Facette was named president and CEO of the new association. “This is an exciting opportunity,” Facette stated in a news release. ”In starting new, we have a chance to build new industry partnerships across Canada – we have already started in Ontario.”
