Propane plays part in mosquito-trapping machine

July 16, 2015 By

Mosquito_231x300Woodstream Corp. introduced the Mosquito Magnet Independence trap, a propane-fueled machine that attracts, captures and kills mosquitoes and other biting insects. The trap covers 1 acre of land and is designed to reduce the number of mosquitoes in seven to 10 days, according to the company. The unit works by converting propane into carbon dioxide, which is combined with heat and moisture to create an attraction similar to mosquitoes’ draw to humans. Then, the mosquitoes are vacuumed up into the machine where they dehydrate and die within 24 hours. As one of four model options, the trap features a cordless design. It also offers various accessory bundles specific to different geographical regions to help increase mosquito catch rates.
