Propane technology among Time’s top 25 inventions of 2013
Time magazine recognized a propane technology as one of its 25 Best Inventions of the Year for 2013. The technology, gelled propane from Canadian company GasFrac, is used in the hydraulic fracturing process as a substitute for water. LP Gas first featured GasFrac’s gelled propane in May 2012.
Another company, eCorp Stimulation Technologies LLC, also has a propane fracking technology in pure propane stimulation (PPS), which, according to a press release, relies on liquid propane rather than propane gel. In addition, eCorp unveiled a second propane-related fracking technology in 2013, when it introduced a fluorinated form of propane to minimize the risk associated with LP gas’ flammability.
