Blue Cow Software, a software provider for the propane and fuel oil industries, launched a two-way text message (SMS) feature for its Ignite software suite.

The feature, which is available to any company using Blue Cow Software’s Ignite software suite, allows propane companies to communicate with their customers via text. The feature uses short code, which enables companies to send service reminders, updates, billing reminders, payment reminders, customer alerts, employee alerts and marketing messages.

According to Blue Cow Software, recent research claims that 98 percent of all texts are read and of those, 90 percent are read immediately. In addition, 64 percent of people prefer to receive texts as opposed to voice calls as a customer service channel. Considering these statistics, Blue Cow Software decided to implement the two-way texting channel.

“We want our clients to be one step ahead of their competition, and this means giving them the potential to reach their consumers through the preferred mode,” says Mark Nardone, founder and president of Blue Cow Software. “With all the possible uses of SMS, we’re aiming for a decrease in the number of customer service calls our clients receive.”
