Spatz Paint owner contributed to propane industry

Michael E. Spatz, who launched a paint manufacturing business that was involved in the propane industry, died on May 9 in St. Louis. He was 99. Spatz Paint Industries Inc. specialized in several industries, including propane, fertilizer, drive-in theatre screen paint, and the custom iron and ornamental fabricator business. For many years, his company exhibited at the propane conventions and played active parts in training the industry on how to properly coat and protect tanks and equipment. A St. Louis Post-Dispatch article details how Spatz’s business overcame a devastating fire in 1984.
