Former Suburban Propane CEO joins W.P. Carey board

W.P. Carey Inc., a real estate investment trust, named Mark Alexander, former CEO of Suburban Propane, as a new member on its board of directors.

Alexander is currently the chairman and CEO of Alexander Investors, a private equity and real-estate management company. He served as the CEO, president and director of Suburban Propane from 1996 to 2009.

W.P. Carey also appointed Chris Nieuhaus, a partner of GreenOak Real Estate, as a member on its board of directors. According to W.P. Carey, both Alexander and Nieuhaus will stand for re-election on the board at the 2017 annual meeting of shareholders.

“We are delighted to welcome [Alexander] and [Nieuhaus] as new members of our board of directors,” says Benjamin H. Griswold IV, non-executive chairman of the W.P. Carey board of directors. “Their exposure to a variety of industries and their diverse skill sets will provide additional resources and add valuable perspective to our board.”
