Blossman Gas acquires Southwest Propane
Blossman Gas of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, acquired Southwest Propane of Pennington Gap, Virginia. Cetane Associates announced the transaction, which closed July 2.
Southwest Propane delivers propane to homes and businesses across southwest Virginia and neighboring regions. The company is known for its reliability and strong customer relationships, according to Cetane.
“We’re excited about this next chapter,” says Southwest Propane owner Jimmy Gordon Jr. “It’s a great feeling knowing the company and our customers are with Blossman Gas. They’re all about great service and treating people right – just like we do. We know they’ll keep looking out for our customers like family, and that means a lot to us.”
Blossman Gas ranks No. 8 on the 2025 LP Gas Top Propane Retailers list, providing propane services to 19 Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states. Established in 1951 by Woodrow “Woody” Blossman, the third generation of family ownership now has thousands of customers and 85 stores. For more than 70 years, Blossman Gas has invested heavily in the service side of its business.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Southwest Propane into the Blossman Gas family,” says Blossman Gas COO David Reynolds. “Southwest is a wonderful addition to our company as we continue to grow every day, and we look forward to serving their valued customers with the same great care.”
Cetane served as the sole arranger to Southwest Propane. Cetane advised on the sale, including an initial valuation opinion, marketing the business through a confidential process, assisting in negotiating the final deal terms and coordinating the due diligence process. Team members Joe Rosengrant, Duncan McMurchie, Dalton Brooks and Whitney Parsley managed the transaction.
“It’s been a true honor working with Jimmy and his team. They built a solid, respected business that reflects their hard work and dedication,” says Rosengrant, the director of business development at Cetane. “We’re excited for what’s ahead for them and send our warmest wishes for the future.”
