Conger LP Gas to host Sweet Onion Home Showcase

Conger LP Gas and local building supplier Handy Andy will host the inaugural Sweet Onion Home Showcase on Sept. 17-18 in Vidalia, Georgia.

For Conger LP Gas, the event marks the second home showcase in seven months. The Georgia company teamed with Short and Paulk Supply on a February event in Tifton, Georgia, which targeted homebuilders and residential customers.

The event in Tifton – the inaugural South Georgia Home Showcase – featured products and services from about 100 suppliers and drew more than 1,800 total attendees, show organizers reported. It served as a way for Conger LP Gas to reach builders and other potential customers.

Conger LP Gas President and CEO Dan Richardson met with Handy Andy owner Russ Bell during the South Georgia Home Showcase and posed the question: “Are you ready to do this in Vidalia?”

Richardson says the home showcases serve two purposes for his company: branding and educating the community about propane.

“The nice thing about being an independent [marketer] is people know who you are – you go to church and chamber events together. They see you in the community,” Richardson says. “If you start telling them about the education process [with propane], they’re going to listen. The education process has to start on the local level.”

The Sweet Onion Home Showcase will open to the public on Sept. 18. It will feature products and services from more than 40 suppliers, as well as live demonstrations on the show floor. The event also will offer continuing education classes, including two that focus on designing, building and remodeling homes with propane. Admission is free for contractors and homeowners who register online, and $10 at the door, with proceeds donated to a local charity. A contractor-only event will take place Sept. 17.

The Propane Education & Research Council will participate in the showcase.
