Former CHS chairman dies

Steve Burnet, an Oregon farmer and cooperative leader who helped create CHS Inc., died Jan. 19. He was 72.

According to CHS, Burnet was instrumental in the 1998 unification that brought Harvest States Cooperatives and Cenex Inc. together to form its farmer cooperative. After the creation, Burnet served as CHS chairman for three years. Burnet retired in 2002.
