Manchester Tank issues safety bulletin

October 17, 2012 By

Manchester Tank issued a safety bulletin on Oct. 2 after it identified a thread seal issue on 100-pound cylinders manufactured between January 2012 and September 2012 that can result in leaks at the valve-to-cylinder connection.

The potential leak issue only involves 100-pound DOT cylinders with a single vapor POL valve and with a date stamp between 1-12 and 10-12, the company says. It does not involve cylinders of other sizes or liquid service or multivalve cylinders.

The safety bulletin is directed to all fillers of propane cylinders, and it provides steps to take prior to filling a 100-pound Manchester cylinder. The National Propane Gas Association, as well as state propane associations and distributors, have been circulating the information.

Manchester Tank requests that it be notified if a leak is found (call 615-370-6312), if the cylinder has not been filled previously (call 800-640-6327) or for any other questions or concerns (call 800-640-6327).
