The Propane Education & Research Council hired Erin Hatcher as senior vice president in charge of communications and marketing.

“Erin will bring to this role her expertise in strategic planning and implementation, brand management, fiscal responsibility, business growth and crisis management planning,” says PERC President and CEO Tucker Perkins.

Hatcher comes to PERC from Sauer Brands in Richmond, Virginia, where she served as director of marketing. At Sauer, she led strategic planning, market research, product development, social media strategy, e-commerce and creative development of TV and digital advertising, as well as PR, contract negotiation and intellectual property management for their portfolio of brands.

Hatcher’s work on the company’s Duke’s Mayonnaise platform included national expansion and brand extensions. She launched the first resealable mayonnaise pouch in the United States, which won the industry’s packaging award for innovation and drove more than $1 million in incremental sales in its launch year. Hatcher developed a broad network of chef ambassadors for the Duke’s brand and cultivated a consumer fan base through organic and paid social media efforts, as well as through traditional media.

Before Sauer, Hatcher worked for Kraft Foods as associate brand manager where she led new product development and managed the advertising campaign for Kraft Singles cheese. She led the Parkay margarine team in a major product reformulation.

Hatcher graduated from the University of Virginia with an ROTC scholarship, and after graduation, Hatcher served three years in the U.S. Army as a first lieutenant. She commanded a unit in Pedricktown, New Jersey, with responsibility for planning and movement of military cargo and handling hazardous materials. She also commanded soldiers in Camp Darby in Livorno, Italy, managing the vehicle fleet. She managed the shipment of ammunition and equipment for Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm and Provide Comfort.

Hatcher will work from Richmond, where she lives with her husband and five sons.
