New York latest to host propane Industry Responders Conference

June 13, 2013 By

The New York and North Carolina state propane associations held Industry Responders Conferences this month, working with the Propane Education & Research Council to facilitate the exchange of information, techniques and experiences among industry responders.

New York hosted its event on June 11-12 at the New York State Academy of Fire Science in Montour Falls, N.Y. North Carolina gathered the industry on June 1-2 at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh, N.C.

The training events for industry responders, including propane professionals, fire service and emergency response trainers, towing and recovery professionals, and law enforcement officials, covered the evolution of propane emergencies, and propane response and mitigation strategies. The future of the propane industry and the growth in autogas vehicles also were discussed.

The New York event was held at a renovated New York State Academy of Fire Science. The New York Propane Gas Association invested in the site to upgrade fuel supply tanks, add a new control platform with new valves and controls, provide new equipment such as bobtails and trailers, and provide new fuel supply lines and control valves to current equipment.

Industry Responders Conferences are scheduled for later this year in Texas (Sept. 23-24), Oklahoma (Sept. 24-25) and Georgia (Oct. 1-2).
