Quality Steel promotes vice president of operations
Sean Picou was promoted from director of operations to vice president of operations at Quality Steel.
Picou, who received a mechanical engineering degree from Texas A&M University, has more than 10 years of experience in the pressure vessel manufacturing business. He joined the company in 2013 as the plant manager in West Jordan, Utah, when Quality Steel acquired the assets of American Welding & Tank.
As director of operations at Quality Steel, Picou was responsible for operations and supply chains at three manufacturing facilities. In his new role as vice president, he is now responsible for logistics and transportation, in addition to operations.
“The new role has been great,” Picou says. “It’s nice having the ability to really marry the operations and transportation logistics pieces together. … It’s nice to be able to have the capability of removing additional barriers, either real or perceived, and continue to improve so that we can service our market better.”
Quality Steel is a manufacturer of ASME residential and small commercial propane tanks for residential and agriculture purposes. It sells propane tanks ranging in size from 120 gallons to 2,000 gallons, anhydrous ammonia tanks and more.
The family- and employee-owned company was founded in 1957 and has three facilities located in Cleveland, Mississippi; Fremont, Ohio; and West Jordan, Utah. Quality Steel is a subsidiary of LT Corp., headquartered in Mississippi.
“Quality Steel, even though we’ve grown significantly over the last seven years, still has that entrepreneurial type of and family feel,” Picou says. “People definitely come first.”
