Flint Mass Transportation Authority in Michigan uses 101 Ford E-450 paratransits with the standard tank size.

Roush CleanTech developed an extended-range fuel tank for the Ford E-450 chassis, which allows users to make fewer trips to the refueling pump.

The extended-range fuel tank on the Ford E-450 holds 64 gallons of propane autogas, which Roush CleanTech reports is 56 percent larger than standard tank sizes. Todd Mouw, Roush CleanTech’s vice president of sales and marketing, says paratransit fleet customers recommended Roush CleanTech expand the autogas fuel capacity of the Ford E-450 chassis.

Roush CleanTech expects most of its customers will purchase the new, extended-range fuel tank version of the Ford E-450 because it holds more fuel and still provides fuel-cost savings, the company says. The Ford E-450s will begin to ship to customers in October.
