State association president organizing autogas convoy to Atlanta

March 7, 2012 By

Joe Rose, president and CEO of the Propane Gas Association of New England, is organizing a propane autogas convoy from New England to Atlanta for the NPGA Southeastern Convention & International Propane Expo.

From New Hampshire, the convoy will travel down Interstate 84 through Connecticut and New York; to Interstate 81 through Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia; onto Interstate 77 into North Carolina; and then onto Interstate 85 to Atlanta.

“We are leaving New Hampshire on Tuesday [April 10], with the plan to wake up Wednesday [April 11] in Pennsylvania and roll into Atlanta late on Thursday [April 12] so everyone can clean the vehicles up for the autogas parade on Saturday [April 14],” Rose wrote of the tentative itinerary in a letter to industry members.

The Propane Clean Air Rally and Autogas Parade will kick off the yearlong Propane Centennial Celebration in Atlanta, preceding the expo, which runs through April 16. The rally will feature vehicle staging, a parade of propane autogas vehicles around Centennial Olympic Park, as well as ride-and-drives, demonstrations and a press conference. The event will showcase a wide range of autogas vehicles – from buses, trucks and cars to forklifts and commercial lawn mowers.

Rose, who is a member of LP Gas Magazine’s Editorial Advisory Board, is asking for propane industry support and welcoming anyone who would like to join in the procession. He has arranged refueling points with Alliance AutoGas.

“This could be a lot of fun, garner the industry some great publicity and will be pretty impressive rolling down the highway toward our 100th birthday party!” Rose added.

Anyone interested in participating should contact Rose at 888-445-1075 or email jrose@pgane.org.
