WINLPG names Steph Hennen as 2022 Young Woman of the Year
The Women in LPG (WINLPG), a global network founded by the World LPG Association (WLPGA), named the winners of its Woman of the Year and Young Woman of the Year awards.
Stephanie Hennen, marketing manager with Lakes Gas, was named as the 2022 Young Woman of the Year. She was previously named runner-up for the Young Woman of the Year Award in 2019 and was also named a 2021 LP Gas Rising Leader.
When asked about the younger generation being a part of the propane industry’s future, Hennen says, “I’m not concerned about getting younger people into our industry because once they’re here, they’re going to be absolutely hooked. We’re an industry that cares about families. We care about the environment. We want to do good in the world. That’s what millennials and Gen Zs are looking for in a career. They want purpose and something that’s family-oriented, which our whole industry is.”
Founded in 1959, family-owned Lakes Gas is among the Top 20 U.S. propane retailers for sales of retail gallons, according to the 2022 LP Gas Top Propane Retailers ranking.
The Young Woman of the Year award recognizes a woman under 35 who has made contributions to the industry and demonstrated significant motivation.
Elifcan Yazgan, supply chain director with Aygaz in Turkey, was named the 2022 Woman of the Year. According to WINLPG, the Woman of the Year award is open to women who have excelled in their sector, made a particularly significant contribution to the propane industry and/or have actively participated in the promotion of the industry.
The winners were awarded during LPG Week 2022 in New Delhi.
WINLPG looks for women who have shown commitment to business beyond profit, who show innovative thinking to achieving career goals, who created a positive impact on their business by promoting diversity and who show innovation in company turnaround.
