2026 trends in digital media
As we near the end of 2025, now is the time to start looking ahead into the new year and evaluating your company’s best practices. One place to focus on is your company’s online presence.
We Are Social, a global, socially led creative agency, released a 700-page Digital 2026 Global Overview Report that evaluates internet access and usage trends, social media behaviors, digital marketing trends and much more.
Here are some key takeaways from the report that might have you considering your current online presence.
▶ Digital usage
Business owners can be hesitant about posting online. A common doubt often shared is, “Will anyone even see this?”
The short answer: Yes.
According to We Are Social’s report, over 70 percent of the population (5.78 billion people) are unique mobile phone subscribers, over 73 percent (6.04 billion people) use the internet and over 68 percent (5.66 billion people) use social media.
Of course, 5 billion people aren’t in your area and are probably not within your reach, but statistically, at least one person is. If you post on Facebook about your services and it reaches just one person in your area, that is one more customer than you had before, and it was obtained from a single post.
The report also showed that Facebook is still the most-used platform, with almost 57 percent of the population above 16 years old claiming they have used it in the last month.
▶ 2026 trends
There’s no question that artificial intelligence (AI) has made an impact on the digital world in the past few years, and that does not seem to be slowing down for 2026.
It is easy to get carried away with AI, but there are some ways the technology can help your business, especially when it comes to your website and social media. If you do not have the manpower on the team to update your website and social media accounts, AI can generate those posts for you.
On top of that, many AI platforms are trained to tackle these posts with the best search engine optimization tactics to help you reach more people, if prompted correctly.
According to Hootsuite, a social media management platform that also shares reports and tips regarding digital media, 69 percent of marketers now see AI as revolutionary technology that can create job opportunities.
As we enter 2026, this might be the time to try new things, and AI can help guide you along.
▶ The time is now
Starting out online can be intimidating, but it can also boost your business by bringing in customers and even employees. If your company does not maintain a presence online, it’s time to start.
