Bi-fuel police vehicles receive EPA certification

August 29, 2016 By

Stag USA Alternative Fuel Solutions received Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certification for its bi-fuel Ford Police Interceptor Sedan and Police Interceptor Utility conversions.

According to Stag USA, Ford Interceptors captured about 60 percent of the police vehicle market this past year in the United States. The new certification covers both 2015 and 2016 models in the 3.7-liter engine and 3.5-liter Ecoboost engine on the Ford Taurus, Ford Explorer, Lincoln MKS, Lincoln MKT and Lincoln MKZ. The certification will also carry back to 2013 and 2014 models under the intermediate age vehicle regulations, the company says.

Stag USA manufactures compressed natural gas and propane fuel systems designed and built for the law enforcement market. The company currently has EPA certifications to convert more than 190 vehicle models.
