PERC seeks comments on two 2025 dockets
The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) is seeking public comments on two funding requests ahead of its December meeting in Naples, Florida.
PERC is requesting an $11.2 million funding request for its 2025 integrated marketing and communications plan and a $2.25 million funding request for its 2025 propane construction research and data collection program.
According to PERC, the integrated communications and marketing docket supports 2025 programming for all markets, based on the communication strategy and messaging objectives for paid, earned and the council’s owned media channels. It also includes programming for environmental thought leadership, corporate communications, as well as digital content development and strategy.
PERC plans to spend 13 percent less on the 2025 marketing and communications plan compared to the 2024 plan. The council says it’s shifting autogas funding from communications to research and development, and reducing spending for environmental thought leadership and residential construction.
The propane construction research and data collection program, PERC says, will gather data from builders on homes built or remodeled in 2025. The data will include a comparison of the carbon dioxide emissions of propane-powered homes and their all-electric counterparts. The council seeks to determine whether high-efficiency propane appliances continue to have lower emissions than electric alternatives.
Builders are incentivized to have propane appliances installed in the homes they build. The project allows builders to earn up to $1,000 per home, with $500 for central heating, including hybrid heat pumps in dual-fuel mode; $300 for water heating; and $100 for each additional gas appliance or opening installed in the home. There is also a $500 bonus for remodel projects that replace oil or electric appliances with propane appliances.
Download the dockets here. All comments must be received by 5 p.m. Eastern Time on Dec. 1. The council is scheduled to meet Dec. 5 in Naples.
