Cargas Energy publishes fourth annual tech report
Cargas Energy has published its fourth annual Top Technology Trends in Fuel Delivery Benchmarking Report. The research includes data collected from more than 100 fuel dealers about how they’re using technology in a changing industry.
Based on four years of data, Cargas says it has pinpointed how technology influences the fuel delivery industry. The company this year references the fallout brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and other world events, including supply chain concerns and inflation, and how they impact business decisions.
The report explores technology in seven areas of the industry: tank monitors, customer experience tools, sales and marketing, mobile technology, cloud software, business intelligence, and cybersecurity.
Some of the highlights:
- In the area of customer service, social media grew in popularity among customer service representatives, with more than one-third of respondents using LinkedIn, Facebook and other apps to retain customers.
- Fuel delivery companies also expanded online review monitoring, credit card and electronic payment acceptance, and self-service capabilities for customers.
- In the area of automation, tank monitor usage is at an all-time high, Cargas says, with 70 percent of respondents deploying more or spending more on tank monitors this past year. Marketing automation for new business is up 8 percent, while email and texting automation for current business is up 13 percent.
The online survey was conducted in September and October 2022 with fuel dealers across North America.
Cargas, based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, is an employee-owned software company for fuel delivery and HVAC service companies.
