Commentary: Mobile technology enables instant two-way communication between drivers and the back office, creating flexible delivery schedules that adapt to changing customer needs, according to Cargas’ 2023 Top Technology Trends in Fuel Delivery Benchmarking Report.

In 2022, only 68 percent of respondents reported mobile applications in their fuel delivery software. In 2023, that number jumped to 81 percent.

Only 8 percent of respondents who invested in new fuel delivery software within the past seven years reported a lack of mobile capabilities in their solution, according to Cargas.

Of the respondents surveyed by Cargas, 68 percent use real-time mobile communication to reach drivers and technicians, a higher percentage than reported last year. Manual processes, such as calling the driver, are less favored by about 11 percent compared to last year.
